How to dream big and find your freedom
Today I’m going to show you how to trick your brain into telling you what you really want out of life.
Sometimes when you are stuck in the daily grind it can be hard to envisage a life of financial independence and personal freedom because you feel trapped.
But there is a way to free your mind and start identifying what you really want and planning your route to get there.
One of the most effective approaches is being pioneered by financial life planner Tina Weeks, who is trained by the Kinder Institute, and who uses tried and test life-planning tools from the Institute in a financial planning context.
She asks clients three simple, but powerful questions:
1.Imagine you are financially secure and will always have enough money to take care of your wants. How would your life be different from the way it is now? Describe the kind of life you would live as fully as you can.
2.You have only five to ten years to live. How would you change your life and how would you spend your time?
3.You have only one day left to live. Who did you not get to be and what did you not get to do? What did you miss?
When I did this exercise myself it sent shivers down my spine and made me really think about my life priorities. The objective is to wake you up and think about how time is running out to make the most of your life and your money.
In my next blog I will be exploring how you can use this new impetus to start planning financially for your new dream life. Let me know how you get on with this first exercise.
